“BRADYN AND HIS CREW WERE FAST AND EFFICIENT AND WERE WILLING TO WORK AROUND OUR SCHEDULE. OUR YARD ALREADY HAS ESTABLISHED GRASS, SO THIS INSTALLATION WAS FIVE YEARS AFTER THE SOD HAD BEEN LAID, MAKING IT MUCH MORE CHALLENGING. HIS PRICING IS BETTER THAN OTHER QUOTES I RECEIVED, AND HE WAS MUCH MORE COURTEOUS THAN SOME I SPOKE WITH.”
Irrigation Zones and Head types
There are many different zone types to consider when installing irrigation systems. It is important to know each type and its best use while designing your system. A proper understanding of these zone types will lead to water efficiency, accuracy, ease of use and promote the healthy growth of your plants, trees and grass.
Spray Head zones
The most commonly installed zone type, spray heads are a great way to water small areas of grass. Due to recent advances in nozzle technology we have seen the resurgence of this head. It has become a great way to create savings with water conservation at the heart of new nozzle designs. Its radius and distance flexibility, water efficiency and easily upgradeable features have brought it back to the forefront of the residential and commercial irrigation industry.
New low flow and water efficient nozzles are a standard when installed by Grizzly Irrigation, saving you money every time you water.
Rotor Head Zones
Rotor head zones consist of gear driven heads which rotate as they water. They are best described as the heads you would commonly see on a golf course. They spray great distances, allowing for coverage of larger open areas of grass. These heads are best utilized when spray heads have trouble covering a given area cost effectively. This head is highly adjustable; radius, distance and flow are all just a few turns away. It is considered an efficient head as it waters slowly, creating very little run-off waste.
Grizzly Irrigation installs professional, golf course grade heads from reputable brands such as Toro, Hunter and Rainbird. With a variety of sizes to choose from this is a great option for large areas of grass.
Drip and Micro Irrigation
When considering drip irrigation, it is important to know that there are many different forms and products to choose from. Some are very much like a spray head, others are as the name suggests, but they are all considered Drip Irrigation. This zone type is best utilized when watering plants, trees and shrubs.
Micro Bubblers
Micro bubblers are a great tool when installed in beds which consist of annuals, trees and or food producing gardens and garden boxes. They are like little mini sprinkler heads which put out water quite quickly. They cover a general area as opposed to a specific plant, are easily moved around and re staked into the ground. In the spring planting season it is best to pull them out and bring them back to their main lateral line, providing you the space you need to work on your garden with the confidence that you will not damage your system.
Spot Watering Drip Emitters
Spot Watering Drip Emitters are the most efficient method of providing water to your plants, trees and shrubs. It is so effective that we have opted to call it Custom Drip. A common misconception is that you need to water the entire plant, leaves and all. This is simply not true. In fact watering the leaves can cause sun spots as the shine becomes magnified through each droplet. Each plant is given its own nozzle with the flow rate as required by the plant. The nozzle is then placed directly over the root ball, providing water only where it is needed. Commonly used flow rates are .5GPH, 1GPH and 2GPH.
Drip Tubing
Drip Tubing is the most commonly used method of drip irrigation. Its simplicity of use has made it a favourite among our clients at Grizzly Irrigation. Drip Tubing consists of inline emitters installed in increments of 12 or 18 inches. Available in 0.4GPH, 0.6GPH, and 0.9GPH. You get a lot of coverage using this method! And again, the water goes where you need it!
