What is required prior to the installation of an underground sprinkler system?
The City of Calgary requires the installation of a Cross Connection Device, or Double Check Valve, by a certified installer. This double check valve prevents the back flow of potentially harmful contamination from entering into our drinking water. The double check valve must be tested each year prior to the start up of your underground sprinkler system. You can find more information regarding the Cross Connection Program by clicking here.
In addition to the installation of the cross connection devise, we require a minimum 3/4 inch main water feed to the outside of your house. From there, we take care of the rest!
